The Field Of An Angel

As I look up into the sky, I will always know who was watching over us.  Like Sarah, I believe in God and I believe in prayer.  We walked through the field to a red pickup truck that was waiting for us.  He told us that he was a volunteer sent to look for us.  As we sat on the back of the truck, my instructor remarked that out of thirteen thousand jumps, this was his worst tandem jump.  They took us back to the tarmac and I was waving to everyone from far away.  I kept waving until they spotted me, and then they waved back.  When we drove up I got off the pickup truck and walked toward them.  Everything was back to normal.  Sarah saw me and asked me if she was going to get a hug.  I walked up and gave her a big hug.  I will always talk to Sarah.  The wind became calm.  The sun was coming out and was setting on the horizon.

Later that week, I went back to that field.  Deer were grazing.  As I came closer they ran into the nearby woods.  A sparrow flew out of the tall grass and into a tree.  I found the place where we landed, looked up and tried to visualize when we were coming down.  It was so peaceful there.  Looking around, I saw the body of water through the woods.  Walking over I noticed lily pods growing on the large pond.  It was absolutely beautiful.  I walked back to the spot and took a white stake that I brought along.  It was placed into the ground to mark the spot, knowing I will return there again someday.  Later, walking back to the car I turned back to look.  I thought that this will always be the field of an angel, the gateway to the east end.
