The Stow Away

 

Everyone on the Star Island Marina Dock gasped!!

 

We all stood silently with our mouths open, trying re-live in our minds what just happened.

 

“Oh My God!” I screamed out.

 

A heavy feeling of sadness fell over my shoulders remembering the little mouse’s innocence. I would have rather seen him run down the dock to freedom…but to be eaten by a “strip bass” in a split second was heartbreaking.

 

Mel started to walk away, stating as though a coroner on a CSI Television crime scene, “You’ve just witnessed, my dear friends, the “Circle of Life” of an Austrian Roof Mouse.

 

I sadly walked up the gangway, thinking, “From the lap of luxury to the gullet. Good-Bye my little furry friend.”
