Pie’s Letter To Mom

Written By: Louise  Wilkinson

Management of most of the wineries has been done by another person we both admired. If you remember back to the summer of 1970, when the new Laundromat opened at the end ofFront   Streetin Greenport, We both worked it for Mr. Mudd. He had retired from his position as an air line pilot and wanted to work more with his hands. I never thought that was quite the job for him. I understand that he became a consultant for most of the local wineries. Most of the people in the wine business learned from him and his son, Stephen. Who would have thought!

I guess it’s time for me to get ready for the fireworks display. We’re  probably heading out to Greenport to see it over the water. For me, that  will always be most special to see the lights reflected in the harbor water. Somehow, one never truly appreciates all that glory until so much of it is gone. I will be writing again soon, as there has been many events and conversations this summer that I know you will appreciate hearing.

Love,

Pie

P.S. Joe, Mrs. Sawicki’s son, has a great job now. He is the Suffolk County Comptroller. Funny, how things work out. We had great strawberry fights near the end of the season!
