Let’s Just Take A Ride

hit the spot right about now.  We settled down near the water’s edge with our drinks and my delicious cup of coffee was considerably enhanced by ocean breezes and a wonderful view.

Having satisfied ourselves here at Orient Point, we started to head back home and were glad we were headed westward when we saw the line of cars in Greenport waiting for theShelterIslandferry. Luckily we seemed to have missed the traffic tie-ups all day long and enjoyed our ride home only stopping along the way at a farm stand to treat ourselves to strawberry-rhubarb pies. What a wonderful day – no plans – just wandering around and exploring. Imagine, so many different experiences in such a short period of time. The scenic ride out to Greenport – the Shelter Island ferry round trip – the driving around Shelter Island – the subsequent hike at Mashomack Preserve – lunch at Claudio’s in Greenport – the ride to Orient Point from there in the late afternoon – enjoying a thoroughly good cup of coffee  on the beach there –  the ride back home stopping only to pick up strawberry-rhubarb pies along the way. This easily can be called a most perfect day!
