Johnny and Edna celebrated their 60^th wedding anniversary at the Montauket in August of 2005.  Four years later, onApril 19, 2009 Edna lost her battle with cancer. She died with Johnny by her side.

The life and love of Johnny and Edna Jezewski have been laid out on the beautiful hills and shores of theEast End. Even as I listened to the timeless tale, we sat on a hill outside their home near the bay. Johnny’s retelling of their story brought with it an air of joy and sadness, as only the greatest of love stories can. Although the details of their romance have lost some of their colors over the years, salt-washed with the waters of theAtlantic Ocean, Johnny still recalls with resolute clarity “She was the best thing that ever happened to me.” I guess it had to be you.
